Duncanville Traffic Unit

Officers Ben Luna and Ben Shipman operate year round on 2015 Harley-Davidson FLHTP Electra Glides motorcycles.

The color scheme of these new motorcycles is the Houston paint scheme (black and white) with a powerful 1699cc High Output Twin Cam 103 engine. Harley knows that police need a strong, reliable, and well-designed motorcycle. With 110 years in the business of making motorcycles, Harley-Davidson has once again showed its undaunted commitment to its law enforcement customers.

The Traffic Unit is responsible for traffic enforcement activities such as monitoring vehicle speed, especially in school zones; addressing traffic light and stop sign violations and any other traffic safety issues which may arise.

The Traffic Unit responds to all accidents requiring a police presence. The motorcycle officer have completed courses in advanced accident investigation and has over 15 years accident investigation experience.

The Traffic Unit is called upon for parades, special events, the fireworks detail, carnivals, road races, home high school football games and dignitary processions held in our City.

The Duncanville Traffic Unit has a long and proud tradition of professionalism and safety. Officers who have the distinction of being assigned to the Traffic Unit must have a valid motorcycle license and pass an intensive 80 hour police motorcycle training class that requires each officer to master skills such as; negotiating different obstacles, high speed braking maneuvers, slow speed balance, curve negotiation, and pair riding for formations.
