The City of Duncanville is proud to announce that its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2024, has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). This recognition is the highest honor in governmental accounting and financial reporting and reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accuracy, and strong financial stewardship.
The Certificate of Achievement is presented only to governments that meet the program’s rigorous standards, which include demonstrating a clear “spirit of full disclosure” and communicating financial information in a way that encourages residents and stakeholders to fully understand the City’s fiscal position. An impartial panel of reviewers determined that Duncanville’s report met these elevated requirements.
“This achievement reflects the dedication and professionalism of our Fiscal Services team,” said Duncanville Interim City Manager Richard B. Abernethy. “Awards like this reinforce our community’s trust that Duncanville is responsibly managing public resources and planning for a strong financial future.”
As part of this recognition, Fiscal Services will also receive an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement, presented to the department identified as primarily responsible for the accomplishment.
GFOA has awarded this distinction to governments across the United States and Canada since 1945, encouraging state and local agencies to exceed minimum accounting standards and pursue continuous improvement in financial reporting.
