Biography
DeMonica Gooden has deep roots in the Dallas County community, and she has long been dedicated to serving it. A woman of faith. Married to high school sweetheart. A mother of three adult children.
Oldest daughter, is an Army Veteran, wife of an active duty Soldier and mother of three. Second daughter, is active duty Navy Sailor with a degree from Johnson and Wales University. The baby of the bunch is a hardworking Welder and devoted father of two beautiful daughters.
Among her many commitments: wife, mother, and grandmother, she has always been committed to serving the public. She has served as Chair of Duncanville's Neighborhood and Vitality commission. Her passion for public service drove her to pursue and acquire her Master of Public Administration (MPA), alongside a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication. She attained her degrees while raising a family and building a 20-year career as a Civil Servant. During her career with City of DeSoto, she played a major role in DeSoto receiving the highly sought-after lifetime award of All America City for 2006.
In her career with City of Dallas, she began as an Environmentalist educating the public on environmental concerns. She rose through the ranks of City of Dallas working with Capital Projects such as Mill Creek, Pavaho Pump Station and ISO 9001/14001. She also served as the Chair of Employee Advisory Council, where she help bridge the gap between employee and leadership. She is a long time member of The Potter's House of Dallas and serves as a Greeter.
