The City of Duncanville and Keep Duncanville Beautiful are proud to participate in the 2025 Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off, the state’s largest annual litter cleanup event, taking place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Residents, businesses, and community groups are encouraged to join the effort to help keep Duncanville clean and beautiful.

The City of Duncanville is excited to announce the BloomFest Music & Arts Festival, a vibrant celebration of art, music, and culture, on May 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Armstrong Park.

Republic Services, in partnership with the City of Duncanville, is launching a Trash Cart Pilot Program in early April 2025 for 300 selected homes. This initiative introduces wheeled trash and recycling carts designed to improve efficiency, enhance neighborhood cleanliness, reduce issues like litter and pests, and to collect customer input.

To best prepare Police, Fire, and 911 Dispatch personnel to respond to active shooter/active attacker events, the cities of Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville, and Lancaster joined forces for a large full-scale training exercise. The exercise took place all day Wednesday February 28, 2025 at Valley Ridge Park in Cedar Hill.

Weather permitting, all lanes of eastbound I-20 will be closed and detoured to the frontage roads from near the Duncanville Road/North Main Street exit (MM 462) and Cockrell Hill Road from 10 p.m. Friday, March 14 to 5 a.m. Saturday, March 15 as part of an ongoing corridor improvement project. Drivers can expect delays in the corridor and should be alert to slower traffic. The overall project is expected to complete in early 2025, weather permitting.

Operation: Clean Duncanville is a community cleanup event scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Residents are invited to participate in various activities, including brush disposal, bulk trash dumping, electronic recycling, and secure document shredding. A community cleanup will also take place, with volunteers meeting at the Armstrong Park Pavilion and receiving a free lunch. The event is free for Duncanville residents with a driver's license or utility bill as proof of residency. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled to April 19, 2025.

The Duncanville Public Works Department is currently undergoing clean-up, remediation, and disinfection of a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) that occurred in the City of Duncanville wastewater collection system on January 30, 2025, caused by weather conditions and heavy rainfall January 29 and 30, 2025.

The City of Duncanville extends its deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and loved ones of Robert Byron "Bob" Lee, who passed away on January 10, 2025. Bob Lee dedicated 39 years of remarkable service to the City of Duncanville, beginning in the Water Department and culminating in his role as Director of Utilities until his retirement in 1991.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for North Texas. In response, Duncanville city staff, who have been monitoring weather developments for days, have begun implementing plans to protect and assist the community.

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the Duncanville City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Fee Schedule, which includes a rate increase for services provided by Republic Services for solid waste pickup and Waste Management for landfill disposal services. As stated in their contract, Republic Services may request an annual increase based upon changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The no-new-revenue tax rate would Impose the sameamount of taxes as last year if you compare properties taxed in both years. In most cases, the voter-approval taxrate is the highest tax rate a taxing unit can adopt without holding an election. In each case, these rates arecalculated by dividing the total amount of taxes by the current taxable value with adjustments as required by statelaw. The rates are given per $100 of property value.

On August 14, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Duncanville Police Officers responded to multiple calls for service regarding a shooting with injury at 875 E Highway 67 Service Road. Within two minutes, officers arrived at the scene and located an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided immediate medical assistance to the male and summoned Duncanville Fire Department paramedics to the scene. Duncanville Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the male to Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

The City of Duncanville, at the recommendation and in cooperation with Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS), will be conducting ground spraying against mosquitoes on Thursday, August 15 and Friday, August 16, between the hours of 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, weather permitting. The City of Duncanville is pleased to announce that Matthew Stogner has been selected as the lone finalist for the position of Chief of Police. Mr. Stogner has been a member of the Duncanville Police Department since 1998, most recently serving as the City’s Interim Chief of Police since January 2024.

Atmos Energy will perform routine maintenance resulting in the safe removal of natural gas on Monday, July 29, from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 726 S. Cockrell Hill Road in Duncanville. Atmos Energy remains focused on its vision to be the safest provider of natural gas services, and this system modernization work demonstrates a continued investment in safety, innovation, environmental sustainability, and our communities.

The City of Duncanville, at the recommendation and in cooperation with Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS), will be conducting ground spraying against mosquitoes on Thursday, July 25 and Friday, July 26, between the hours of 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, weather permitting. The spraying is being conducted in response to the detection of West Nile Virus in a mosquito trap located in the 75137 zip code. If the weather prohibits spraying on Thursday night, spraying will be conducted on Friday and Saturday nights. Spraying will be performed in the targeted area within the City of Duncanville (see the attached map). Residents living within the spray zone are encouraged to remain indoors and bring their pets inside during spraying.

Early on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, rain and destructive winds moved through Duncanville, Texas. Many residents emerged from their homes without electricity to find fallen trees and branches. On April 11, 2024, at 4:28 p.m., Duncanville Police Department Officers were dispatched to a suspicious activity call for service in the 1300 block of Circle Drive. The reporting party advised that he located a missile-shaped object, possibly an explosive while digging in his backyard. The reporting party was instructed to evacuate his home immediately.

On December 3, at approximately 5:27 PM, the Duncanville Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire located at the 200 block of Woodhaven Boulevard in Duncanville. Firefighters from Cedar Hill, DeSoto, and Dallas also responded to the 2-alarm fire. The fire was extinguished at approximately 6:14 PM.

The Duncanville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in a shooting that left one person wounded.

On Friday, November 17, 2023, at approximately 5:18 p.m., Duncanville police officers responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Linkwood Dr. Preliminary information indicated that two unknown suspects had shot a male victim. Officers responded to the scene, located the male, and administered first aid. The male victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, the Duncanville City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Fee Schedule, which includes a rate increase for services provided by Republic Services for solid waste pickup and Waste Management for landfill disposal services. As stated in their contract, Republic Services may request an annual increase based upon changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at approximately 10:46 a.m., Duncanville police officers responded to a robbery in the area of Echo Drive and Oriole Boulevard. Preliminary information indicated that the caller and the suspect knew each other. The suspect was observed running into his residence and then refused to cooperate with the officers on scene. The Duncanville SWAT team responded to the location and began negotiations, ultimately ending with the suspect voluntarily exiting his residence and being taken into custody without further incident.

A female caller advised 9-1-1 that she observed a black male, wearing red shorts and white shirt, possibly in his early 20’s, exposing his penis.

The no-new-revenue tax rate would Impose the same amount of taxes as last year if you compare properties taxed in both years. The 2018 Duncanville Bond Program was approved by voters in November of that same year. The program originally consisted of 10 projects organized into four propositions. Proposition B included the allocation of $5,033,000 for the reconstruction of a segment of Danieldale Road. The reconstruction project includes replacing the water lines beneath the surface as well as new pavement. Once complete, the configuration will be a four-lane divided roadway with hike and bike trails along the north and south sides.

The Duncanville Public Works Department is currently undergoing clean-up, remediation, and disinfection of a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) they located on January 16, 2023, in the City of Duncanville wastewater collection system. On Sunday, January 15, 2023, at approximately 2:26 a.m., Duncanville Police Officers responded to a call for service regarding a shooting with injuries at 1547 Sunrise Lane. Within minutes, officers arrived at the location and discovered an adult male suffering from a single apparent gunshot wound. The officers provided immediate medical assistance to the male and summoned Duncanville Fire Department paramedics. However, shortly after their arrival, paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
